Another funny baby hat…

Here is the white hat finished…

Should I add more tentacles?

Should I add more tentacles?

I picked up stitches and knitted i-chords all around the top – I love the look! ┬áI did toy with making them different colours… or even making eyes for the ends… maybe I’ll do that on another hat… hmmm…

I hope this baby isn’t going to get a complex wearing my daft creations!

Happy days…

Another pair of booties…

This is a fun pair…

Rainbow yarn...

Rainbow yarn…

… and this time I crocheted little circles┬áon the ends of the ties instead of making pompoms. ┬áMy mum said that babies put their feet in their mouths and she thought maybe pompoms wouldn’t be a good idea… ┬áI hadn’t thought of that…

So I decided to try something different and I rather like this alternative.

I have 2 more pairs to finish off with some ties and a couple more pairs on the needles… baby due in just over a month…

Happy days…

More baby knitting…

This is a little jacket drying on a mesh doo dad thingy over the bath – I just LOVE those buttons…

Soon be dry...

Soon be dry…

I am never happy sewing on buttons… I think it stems from when I did my brownie sewing badge and had to sew various buttons onto a piece of cloth. ┬áI was a GOOD and COMPETENT sewer as a child – I made all my doll’s clothes and some stuffed animals too… and I did embroidery… BUT… Brown Owl (my knees feel weak just thinking about her…) simply picked up my “wonderful” work and pulled a button off – and I failed my badge… I was mortified as sewing was the thing I was best at. ┬áIts stayed with me all these years and I still worry about buttons…

As for the hat, I’ll finish it with i-chord streamers and pompoms – probably white, but maybe multi-coloured to sort of match the jacket buttons… I’ll have to rummage in my bits of left over yarn to see what colours I can find.

Can’t wait to cast on for something else – I am loving┬áthis baby knitting…

Happy days…

Bootie knitting…

Here are the first pair of booties completely finished…

Yellow booties...

Yellow booties…

… I have another 3 pairs knitted and awaiting their pompoms – so cute! ┬áThese were made with 2 bits of left-over sock yarn – they only need about 20 grams and are knitted on 4 needles. ┬áI have been raiding my basket of bits of left-over yarn and I have lined up yarn for many more pairs… they are addictive čÖé

Pattern is Cutest Booties by Stephanie┬áPearl-McPhee via Ravelry – a total joy to knit.

Baby knitting…

Just finished this little cross-over baby jacket…

Hope this fits...

Hope this fits…

I used some pretty sock yarn (75% wool, 25% nylon) so nice and practical – and I have just enough left over to make matching booties…

I adapted a pattern I found in an old Phildar baby book – took a while to sort out the tension but its ended up about the same size as the original pattern. ┬áIt does look small – but I guess new babies are quite small čÖé

My next challenge is to see if I can knit this (or maybe a cardigan) top-down – the raglan shapings were fairly even – it’ll be fun to try!

Happy days…
